Over the past year+, I’ve been getting to know Caitlin + Devan. We first met at Liza + Mike’s Wedding, and then we got to know each other via email and behind the camera during photo shoots. So when their big day came to an end, I found myself kind of sad saying goodbye to not only one of my JTPhoto couples, but people that seemed more like friends. Their wedding day was a blast. Being up in Lake Geneva with their friends and family made it seem like a fun little getaway, not to mention I made a new best friend with their 4-year old daughter, Alli.
Caitlin + Devan’s love story started years ago… and they had to find their way in life separately before they could find their way back to each other. Now, more in love than ever, Caitlin + Devan are starting their lives together with their adorable – and I literally mean one of the cutest, funniest, and sweetest little girls I’ve ever met – daughter, Alli. Although it rained on their big day – which is good luck – we had the best of both worlds. It was perfectly overcast during portraits, the sun shined during the ceremony, and as soon as it was over and things moved inside – the rain started. We couldn’t have asked for better timing and it was the perfect start to Caitlin, Devan, and Alli’s lives together.

I have to tell the story of how Lauren + Joe met… it’s not only cute, but it sums up Lauren + Joe in a nutshell. Lauren was at the bar texting one of her girlfriends, and Joe walked right up to her and slyly asked, “Are you texting me?” They briefly chatted, exchanged numbers, and a few days later he took her out on their first date to Gilt Bar. The story is simple. Boy sees pretty girl at the bar, gathers up the courage to talk to her, starts the convo with a silly joke, they share a few laughs, and the rest is history. It’s that easy.
It didn’t take much to bring Lauren + Joe together. And it’s easy for me to imagine the two of them hitting it off the night they met and again on their first date. Because that’s how their Engagement Session went. We met, essentially for the first time, and it was like something clicked. I snapped away on my camera as the two of them laughed and played as if we were all old friends having a good time. And it’s clear in the photos just how much fun they have together. They let it all go, not letting the fact that there was a camera on them change anything, and they were just themselves… laughing, joking, and loving each other as I’m sure they have for the past couple years together. Lauren + Joe, I’m beyond excited to capture your wedding next year – until then, enjoy your Engagement!
Usually I write my couples’ blog posts myself. I try to fill it with my favorite memories from the day, well wishes for the couples, and a few sentimental notes. But, as I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed the day after Jacque + Tommy’s wedding, I stumbled across separate posts from both the bride and groom showing their gratitude, love, and appreciation of each other, as well as their family and friends. And I knew immediately that I had to share those words here.
From the groom (day of the wedding) // “I’m usually pretty good at gathering my thoughts and expressing myself on here but today it’s a little different. Today I’m marrying the woman of my dreams and all of the words that come to mind don’t seem good enough for her… Let me just start by saying no bride has worked harder or given more to this wedding and our relationship than mine. Thank you for sacrificing literally the last year of your life to make this day as special as it will be. I am truly honored to be marrying you and I have never been more excited for anything in my life. To all of our friends and family. THANK YOU. Your love and support have helped us get to this point and we are forever grateful… Jacque, see you soon. Love you too much.”
From the bride (day after the wedding) // “…to say that this has been the best experience of my life and that yesterday was the best day of my life is a severe understatement… thank you all so very much for all the kind words, ‘likes’, advice, etc. on Facebook…. thank you all for keeping Tommy and I together and being there for moral support, help with odds and ends, to keep us laughing and smiling literally all day long and the last 14 months… and last, my groom. Tommy, your unending support and truly unconditional love these last 4 years is already enough to last a lifetime, but I am so blessed to receive this forever. I can’t wait to start this new chapter as husband and wife! I love you all from the bottom of my heart. “
No words I could have written would have better expressed the love that was flowing on Jacque + Tommy’s wedding day. Congrats to the beautiful newlyweds, here’s to a life filled with positivity, love, and never-ending gratitude.

Kailey + Rob are one of those couples that are very expressive. I probably took about 500 more photos on their wedding day than I do on an average wedding day because their expressions of love towards each other were so abundant. The smiles, the tears… not just from the bride and groom but also from their family and friends showed how genuinely happy everyone was that Kailey + Rob were saying ‘I do.’
Despite the unseasonably cold Chicago weather in June, their wedding day was filled with sparkle, a bagpiper, and occasional bursts of sunshine. The Adler Planetarium was full of gorgeous details, each making Kailey + Rob’s Wedding the ‘best day ever.’ Kailey + Rob, I wish you nothing but happiness and a life full of love. It was truly an pleasure working with you both on the Engagement and the Wedding Day. Couples like you remind me why I love my job so much, and I feel blessed to tell your love story 🙂
