Colin basically described starting to date Khrista as “he gave her no other choice.” They constantly were running into each other whenever they were home from school, and it was obvious that they were drawn to each other. I’ve run into them at a few of my weddings throughout the years, and we’d been talking about shooting their wedding one day ever since. So when the time came for Colin to propose and plan their wedding – I was the first person they called to capture these moments for them and I’m so honored. Khrista + Colin, I’m so excited to be there with you during this special time in your lives! I’ve enjoyed chatting with you at each of the weddings I’ve seen you at, but I had an even better time during your engagement session – getting to know you both as a couple was a so much fun, and I cannot wait for the wedding next July!
I sent Kristen + Nick photos of Olive Park, and they knew it was the perfect spot for their engagement. A combination of the lakefront, that gorgeous Chicago skyline, and the little bit of greenery that is left before the winter fully hits. It was a little chilly, but we made the best of it as we got to know each other better and practice some photos before the wedding. Kristen + Nick, I’m so glad we got a chance to work together and hangout before the big day – I can’t wait to celebrate with you guys and your family/friends!
Chelsey + Zac knew they wanted a vintage inspired engagement session right from the start. so after brainstorming a few ideas, talking with the people at restoration hardware, and putting a plan in place – we met on the perfect Chicago afternoon to snap a few pics. This mini engagement session was short and sweet, but it was the perfect opportunity for Chelsey, Zac, and I to get to know each other and and explore this amazing new hotspot in the Gold Coast. Huge shoutout to Restoration Hardware for letting us shoot there.
Caroline + Tony wanted a few more pictures after their rainy wedding day, so after a few wrong turns and an entrance to a forest preserve we couldn’t find – we ended up at York Woods in Oakbrook. It turned out to be beautiful. The perfect backdrop for Caroline + Tony – a few fall colors, tall grass, and a plethora of thorny vines that served as the gorgeous juxtaposition to their formalwear. Hope you love these additional photos!
Olivia + JP are getting married next year in Martha’s Vineyard, but since they met (just down the street at Sedgewicks), live, and will stay in Chicago after the wedding – they wanted to document their love along the beach and lakefront in the city they now call home. Their Chicago engagemnet on the lake not only mirrors their wedding vibe, but also hits home to them since JP propsed on the beach – where they spend a lot of their time together. Olivia + JP, it was fantastic working with you both. It was great getting to know you in such a short amount of time, and I wish you a life full of happiness and love.
So, I’m not really sure how I officially met Erin. She was in a wedding party that I photographed last year, but also happened to live with and be best friends someone I know from high school, and also was a guest at a wedding of mine this year. So needless to say, I was meant to be her wedding photographer 🙂 On a fall day a few weeks ago, I met Erin + Ed at the Lily Pond in Lincoln Park, and although they didn’t know what to expect by the end of the session we were all laughing together and having a great time like old friends. Erin + Ed, I’m so excited for your wedding next year… can’t wait to celebrate with you all again!
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous high school senior, Clare. We’d never met before, but getting to know each other during the session was so much fun. We laughed, talked about her plans for the future, and all around had a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect, and let me tell you, this girl is stunning. From her infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and mesmerizing eyes – she made my job easy. Clare, good luck with your last year of high school – I know you’re going to have so much fun and cherish all the memories with your friends and family!
Amy + Johnny’s relationship started with the click of a button. The summer before going to college, Amy friended Johnny on Facebook (they had a lot of mutual friends) because she wanted to know a few people before starting college. That very same day Amy + Johnny were at their mutual friend (and future Maid of Honor) Lexi’s graduation party. Johnny walked right up to Amy and said, “What’s up Facebook friend?” and the rest is history 🙂
Fast forward 8 years, Amy + Johnny were heading over Amy’s dad’s house the day after they celebrated their 8 year anniversary. When they got to Amy’s Dad’s House, Johnny grabbed an old bouquet that Amy caught one year and the garter that he caught 4 days before. As they were walking up to the house, Amy asked him what he was doing with those things and told him to keep them in the car, to which he responded “It’s a good conversation starter for after I propose to you.” Johnny then got down on one knee and proposed in the snow! Congrats to Amy + Johnny!
