Mil + Kris… well these two, they hold a special place near and dear to my heart. We first met last year when they hired me to photograph them during their trip to Chicago from California. It was an immediate friendship, bonded over our love of food, travel, and experiencing the new. After our session, we kept in touch with our travel plans for the year… throwing around ideas for meeting up in Portland, Denver, and Arizona. But when it came time for them to plan their trip to New York, the stars aligned and they booked a New York City session with me.
Despite some weather hiccups, I met Mil + Kris on top of the Highline early Saturday morning to explore some city views and get some photographs you can only get in NYC. Looking down upon the high rises, busy streets, and fire escape lined buildings – Mil, Kris, and I explored this side of New York together, capturing moments along the way. After the Highline, we ventured over to Grand Central Station so Mil could get the iconic shot she had been dreaming of. Mil + Kris, thanks again for having me with you to capture your travels! I LOVE the idea of traveling around the world together and documenting every moment. I am blessed to have worked with you, and I can’t wait for our next adventure together!
What better way to celebrate 30 years of marriage than reigniting the flame during an anniversary photo session… the only thing that made it even better for Joanne + Mick? The fact that this was a gift given to them by their thoughtful and generous children, Brittany and Ashley. How sweet and meaningful!
I photographed Joanne + Mick as they showed me around the beautiful Northwestern University Campus in Evanston, IL. Somehow, this was my first time on campus – but Joanne + Mick were kind enough to show me some breathtaking spots. I pretty much died and went to photography heaven when I saw how the sun was coming through the gigantic weeping willows… my favorite!
Joanne + Mick, thank you for being so wonderful and open to doing an anniversary photo session. I just loved hearing about your relationship, travels around the country, and especially how you still do “date nights” every. single. Thursday night. That’s definitely something I’m going to carry with me forever and hopefully incorporate into my marriage one day 🙂 Another favorite moment of mine from the shoot? When I heard Mick whisper in Joanne’s ear, “We need to do photo shoots more often… you haven’t kissed me this much in years!” LOVE it.
Happy 30th Anniversary to an amazing couple that I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet, spend some time with on a beautiful summer night, and share in their happiness. Their gorgeous smiles say it all. Congratulations!
