What a fun wedding day this was! I couldn’t have asked for a more sweet, easy-going couple to kick off my 2015 Wedding Season with. Mary Grace + Brian, THANK YOU for letting me be a part of your wedding celebration. And for letting me spend one more day with my love, Lucy. Gosh, I love that dog. I’m hoping to get one just like her! From the tears shed during saying your vows, to hopping the fence at the Art Institute Bridge, to the unforgettable dance moves I saw on the dance floor that night at the reception – it was definitely a day I’ll never forget. Here’s a look at some of my favorite moments of the day… Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Bree + Erik met years ago back in college, but it took Bree a few years to realize that the love of her life was right in front of her. Bree saw Erik as just a friend. Erik, on the other hand, always had a crush on Bree. He was persistent in his pursuit of her, and always found a way to remain a part of Bree’s life. Having spent some time with them during the shoot, I can see how their genuine spirits and loving personalities meshed perfectly – which has brought them to today – less than 30 days away from their wedding!
A little incident that happened during our shoot speaks wonders of the kind of people Bree + Erik are. During our session, Erik noticed a child nearby had fallen and was crying. He didn’t hesitate – and ran to his truck to get some bandaids. While Erik was gone, Bree went right over to the boy and told him a story about a nasty fall she had recently taken – shared in his pain, and immediately his nerves were calmed. Bree + Erik, it is no question to me that you are going to be great missionaries in Mexico (their plans after the wedding). You two are literally some of the nicest, most caring, and fun people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. I’m so glad we were able to connect through Facebook – and I was able to share in this special time for you both. I wish you the best of luck in the future, and I hope our paths cross again soon!
Cindy + Paul got engaged this past Christmas, so they wanted the photos to capture their engagement with a winter, snowy feel. Insert unpredictable Chicago weather with a lack of snow, then snow finally coming but with sub-zero temperatures… and what does that leave us with? We end up shooting on a nearly 50 degree day with the sun shining bright enough that we don’t even need to wear coats on the lakefront, what? Ohh Chicago…
This adorable couple is the perfect example of how love balances the other out. Cindy is talkative and outgoing, and Paul compliments her energy with his quiet and tender personality. Both are sweet, genuine people… and they’ve found a way to highlight each other’s personalities to bring out the best in one another. I love working with couples like Cindy + Paul… you can tell how in love they are just by the way they look at each other. We didn’t quite get the perfect snowy day… but I think it worked out even better than we could have imagined. Congratulations to Cindy + Paul, can’t wait for the wedding!
I always love getting away from shooting Weddings and Engagements because it refreshes my perspective on things and gives me a chance to work on other skills. This time of year is great for that since wedding season hasn’t quite kicked in yet, so before things get crazy for the year, I decided to team up with the wonderful ladies of Chicago Fashion Blog, Ticket & Tag, once again to feature some fresh looks for this upcoming spring. We’re all sick of the cold winter days, but as Chicagoans, we know we’re not going to get those hot summer temps for quite some time now. But just because we’re in that transitional weather time of year – it doesn’t mean there aren’t any fun ways to mix and match winter and summer pieces for a more inspired look. See what these ladies put together and where they got it. Big shout out to Heritage Bicycles for letting us shoot there. If you haven’t been – definitely check it out. The coffee and muffins are delicious, they make custom bicycles, and the vibe in there is nothing short of perfection.

Congratulations to my good friends, Katelyn + Matt on their Engagement! Days like this remind me how blessed I am to do what I do. I get to be a part of some of the most special times in people’s lives… and when those people are friends that I’ve known for years – it makes it that much sweeter 🙂 Katelyn + Matt, I’m so incredibly happy for you two, and it warms my heart to see you both so happy together!
At the end of the month, I’m moving out on my own. I’ve lived with my two roommates for almost two years now – and we’ve had quite the time at 3E. I’ll miss living just blocks from Oak Street Beach, jumping on each other’s beds when we come home late at night, borrowing clothes and jewelry, but mostly I’ll miss those random nights where we have no plans but end up hanging out on the couch, ordering food, and watching a movie together… or more like Sam watches the movie and Sara and I fall asleep within 15 minutes 😉 I couldn’t have asked for better roommates a couple years ago, especially at a time where a lot in my life was changing and I needed my girls. Sara + Sam, I love you girls! It’s been fun and us all going our separate ways just means we have 3 different places to hang at now. We’ve done a lot these past two years, and here’s to making new memories, taking more pictures together, and living it up in the West Loop…
